Annual Scholarship Application Process is open from
Monday, February 5, 2018 through  Friday, June 1, 2018.



Annual Scholarship Application Information

The online application form takes approximately one hour to complete. The scholarship application is composed of a section requesting personal, academic and financial information, and a formal essay about goals, community involvement, and achievements.

Essays should be 600-1,000 word in length that address each of the following:
  • Describe your educational and career goals, community/college volunteer involvement, achievements (honors, awards, etc.) and financial need.
  • Explain how you would personally benefit from receiving scholarship support and how you value a college education.
  • Do not type your name in the essay! If your name is in the essay, your essay will not be reviewed.
  * Helpful hint: Applicants are encouraged to compose and edit (including spell check, grammar, punctuation, and word count) their essay in a Microsoft Word  document prior to beginning the online form, so that the text can be pasted into the space provided; typing the essay into the text box may cause the application to time out and the applicant will need to start over.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • Completed HCC Admissions Application must be on file -OR- must be enrolled as a current HCC student.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher for most recent course work to semester start date.
  • Minimum of six (6) semester credit hours are required for some scholarships.

Scoring
Each application through the HCC Foundation Scholarship Program is read and scored by members of the Scholarship Review Committee. The Scholarship Review Committee is comprised of the HCC Foundation Board of Directors, donors, HCC faculty and staff, and community volunteers. Each member generously donates their time to read and score scholarship applications. Each application is read and scored by two Scholarship Review Committee members. Scores are averaged and weighted based the essay submitted.

How to Apply

Application Instructions for Returning Applicants:
1.      Click on the following link https://hccsfoundation.awardspring.com
2.      Login using your HCC credentials (Your HCC “W” number or HCC student email address and your HCC password).
3.      Click on Application in order to begin answering the questions on the application. 
4.      ALL sections of the application must be complete in order for your application to be considered for review.  As you complete each section of the application each header will have the “Completed” under the header.
5.      If any section of the application headers has the words In Progressunder it, this means there are still questions that need to be answered.
6.      During the application process, you can save and return later to complete the application. 
7.      Please check your dashboard to make sure that you have completed all sections of the application. If you do not receive a message at the end stating "You did it! Nothing left to complete. Way to go!, you have not successfully completed the application process. 

*Please note: In order to return to your application to make updates, you must log in using the same link used when you started the application.

Application Instructions for First Time Applicants:
1.      Click on the following link https://hccsfoundation.awardspring.com/prospective/signin
2.      Look for “Don’t have an account” and click on “Register” and enter the requested information.
3.      Check the box stating you agree to the Terms of Use.
4.      Click on “Create Account”.
5.      If you enter your email address and you see a message pop up in a red box that reads User already exists, this means you have already registered.  If this occurs, click on the back arrow in your web browser.  Enter your email address in the Email field and then click on Forgot password.  You will receive a password reset link that is only valid for 24 hours. 
6.      Once you create an account or reset your password if you already have an account you will be taken directly to the application.
7.      Click on Application in order to begin answering the questions on the application. 
8.      ALL sections of the application must be complete in order for your application to be considered for review.  As you complete each section of the application each header will have the Completed under the header.
