Scholarship Essay Upload
Your scholarship essay should be no longer than two double-spaced, typed pages in 12-point font. Essays that are not formatted correctly will not be accepted.
Your essay must discuss all of the following:
- Your background, including any struggles or successes;
- Educational and career goals;
- How a scholarship will help you achieve your goals;
- Why you deserve a scholarship; and
- Any personal information that you want to be considered.
You can improve your chances of receiving a scholarship by writing a strong essay! Please review our section Tips for Writing a Strong Essay for assistance.
Your essay must be typed into a word processing document. Do not upload a zip file or XML file! It will not be accepted. Before uploading your essay, please make sure that your document file name contains your first and last name. For example, Jane Smith would name her document in the following manner:
Microsoft Word: janesmith.doc AppleWorks: janesmith.cws Rich Text Format: janesmith.rtf
Please do not email or call to ask if your essay was received. To check on your status, please log back into the HCC Foundation's website occasionally. We update the status of applications at the end of every business day.

Only one essay will be accepted by the HCC Foundation. Please do not try to change your essay after you submit it. Once your essay is downloaded by the HCC Foundation, it is coded as received and cannot be changed. Any changes or different essays uploaded after that point will not be accepted.
The Scholarship Application period is officially closed. The HCC Foundation will no longer accept any essays and the upload function has been turned off.
