2017 Hispanic Scholarship Luncheon

Dear Supporter,

It is my honor to introduce you to Houston Community College (HCC) student Jonathan Castrejon, a 2016-2017 Hispanic Scholarship Council recipient. Before attending HCC, Jonathan spent his summers working as a dental assistant. Inspired by the way the doctors would help families by taking care of their health, he decided to pursue his own career in the dental field.

Through the help of the HCC Foundation and the Hispanic Scholarship Council, Jonathan is closing in on his goal. In fact, this fall he will be attending St. Thomas University and studying biology in preparation to attend dental school.

HCC is one of the largest institutions of higher learning in Texas and the nation’s leading community college in awarding associate degrees to minority students. The college has a proven track record of producing graduates who are prepared to be successful in today’s competitive, high-demand industries.

The HCC Board of Trustees and the HCC Foundation are committed to building pathways to success for the many Hispanic students who choose HCC as their academic home. Since 2011, we have awarded scholarships to more than 50 outstanding and ambitious college students.

Receiving support from the Hispanic Scholarship Council means more than the easing of financial burdens. Being a scholarship recipient is a confirmation that these students are on the right path, and it serves as motivation to keep working toward a brighter future.

The work we do creates a legacy of change for these students, their families and our communities. We invite you to join us in supporting HCC’s extraordinary Hispanic students by attending and sponsoring the HCC Hispanic Scholarship Council Annual Luncheon. This year’s event is being held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2017, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston.

Please find the attached documents outlining the levels and the numerous benefits of sponsorship. With your support, we will fund scholarships for students striving to earn their education. For more information please contact 2017 Hispanic Scholarship Council Co-Chairs Lillie Aranda, at lillie.aranda@hccs.edu or Emilo Mendoza at emilio.mendoza@hccs.edu .

Working together, we can clear a pathway to success for all our students.
