How the Opportunity 14 Scholarship Works

The O14 Scholarship is a need-based scholarship for HCC students who have resided within the HCC service area for at least one year. The scholarship helps pay for tuition, fees, and books for qualifying students who enroll full time at HCC within one year of either graduating from high school or earning their GED before their 20th birthday.

How to Ensure Your Students Receive Opportunity 14 Funding

There is no scholarship application for the Opportunity 14 Scholarship, but there are some steps students must take to be eligible:

  1. Completion of the FAFSA is required, so please encourage your students to apply sooner rather than later at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Undocumented students should visit the financial aid office at their nearest HCC campus for more information regarding application for TEXAS Grant funds.
  2. Encourage students to apply to HCC, even if they think they might change their minds later.
  3. Encourage your students to investigate the many academic and career-training programs available to them at HCC.
