Opportunity 14 Scholarship  Requirements

To be considered for an O14 Scholarship, you just have to do two things: complete the financial aid application and sign up for classes at HCC. Students who meet the requirements below will automatically receive the money in their HCC student account. There is no application.

To receive Opportunity 14, students must:

  • qualify for the Opportunity 14 Scholarship within one year of graduating high school. (Students who earn a GED before their 20th birthday also are eligible.)
  • complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and qualify for federal/state financial aid, with the Opportunity 14 Scholarship being supplemental to all other awards made.
  • enroll in at least 9 semester credit hours at HCC.
  • have lived within the HCC service area for at least one year.

To continue receiving the O14 Scholarship, students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average on all work attempted at HCC, update their financial aid application yearly, and complete at least 9 credit hours per semester.
