Structure and Requirements

HCC Alumni Association Mission 

The HCC Alumni Association promotes meaningful engagement and continuing relationships between HCC and its alumni through programming and membership. The HCC Alumni Association strives to support, serve, inform, and involve alumni of the College, ensuring they have a lifetime connection to HCC and its mission.

The HCC Alumni Association serves more than 150,000 alumni and seeks to have a council that reflects the size and the diversity present within the alumni body.

HCCAA Advisory Council Nomination Process

The HCC Alumni Association is accepting nominations for the 2017-2018 Advisory Council fiscal year. We are looking for dedicated alumni who are committed to the continuous growth of the Alumni Association. The complete application and submit resume by Friday, July 14, 2017 to Zandra Henderson at alumni@hccsfoundation.org.

The applications will reviewed by the Nominating Committee to determine which nominees will be interviewed. The final selection of the new Advisory Council members will be submitted to a representative from the Alumni Association staff.

HCCAA Advisory Council Structure

•    Council will consist of no less than ten (10) and no more than twenty seven (27) members
•    HCC United Student Council (USC) President will serve as Ex-Officio of the Council
•    Other Council members will be determined by the Alumni Association staff
•    Each Council member will serve a three-year term and may be re-appointed for up to two additional consecutive terms with approval by the Alumni Association Staff, President and Vice President.
•    New Council members and officers will take office effective September 1st annually
•    An Executive Committee of the Council will be selected and voted upon. The committee consists of Past President, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

HCCAA Advisory Council Requirements

•    Must be an HCC alumnus with 40 credit hours or more from Houston Community College;
•    Must have a membership in the HCC Alumni Association database (link to join: https://www.hccsfoundation.org/alumni/join);
•    Make an annual financial contribution of at least $50 to the HCC Alumni Association by February 28;
•    Regularly attend quarterly Advisory Council Meetings. Failure to attend at least three meetings each year may result in the removal from the Council, in accordance with the established removal process;
•    Serve on at least one (1) committee with the HCC Alumni Association Advisory Council;
•    Volunteer for at least five (5) alumni events/activities with the HCC Alumni Association;
•    Attend and participate in at least three (3) alumni events/activities with the HCC Alumni Association;
•    Maintain positive relations with the community and engage in no activity that would cast the Advisory Council, Association, Foundation and the College in a negative light;
•    Keep up-to-date with Alumni Association and Foundation activities and supporting both entities in the community;
•    Follow all policies of the HCC Foundation and HCC Alumni Association; and
•    Perform other duties as assigned by the Council President, Alumni Association Staff, or Council action.

The Nomination Committee will only consider candidates for the HCC Alumni Association Advisory Council whose nomination application is complete and resume submitted to the Alumni Association office by the deadline date of Friday, July 14, 2017.
